THE SPEC IS WRITTEN
BEFORE YOU GET THE CALL.

Marketing and systems for machinery and capital equipment manufacturers selling into long, committee-driven purchases.

How a capital equipment purchase is actually decided

  1. The specification is often written before you hear about the project. If your machine is not in the reference the engineer used, you are competing to be swapped in rather than to be chosen.

  2. Three people can stop the deal for different reasons: maintenance asks about spare parts and uptime, finance asks about total cost over ten years, and production asks what happens the week it fails.

  3. Price is rarely what loses it. Lead time, service coverage and the credibility of the delivery date are what a committee argues about when the quotes are on the table.

What changes versus generic B2B marketing

Application pages beat category pages

A buyer does not search for "industrial machinery". They search for the process they need solved, the throughput they need to hit, and the material they run. Each of those is a page, and each one is where the RFQ starts.

The quote is part of the marketing

When the price depends on configuration, tooling and freight, the machine that quotes in two days beats the one that quotes in ten. That is a systems problem sitting inside a sales problem, and we build both.

The spec sheet has to be machine-readable

Capabilities locked inside a PDF cannot be cited by an answer engine and cannot be compared by a buyer in a hurry. Structured, readable specification pages are what put you on the shortlist a machine builds.

The published cases for this sector are being documented. Meanwhile, here is what the demand looks like.

What your buyers are searching for right now

These are real monthly search volumes in the United States for the terms a machinery buyer types when they are looking for a supplier, not for information. Every one of these searches ends on somebody's website. The question is whose.

  • 6,600 each construction equipment manufacturers / suppliers / companies Five near-identical variants, all with low competition. A single well-built page can serve the whole cluster.
  • 8,100 injection molding machines High competition, which means the traffic is worth paying for. Somebody is already bidding on your buyer.
  • 5,400 manufacturing machines Broad, early-stage, and the moment where a shortlist starts forming.
  • 1,600 industrial machine suppliers Competition index 0 and a top bid up to $310. Nobody is competing for a search buyers pay a fortune to reach.

None of this promises you orders: it says the demand exists and is being answered by someone. What we sell is the work of being the one who answers it, and the measurement to prove whether it happened.

Questions machinery manufacturers ask us

Our machines are custom. Can marketing even work for us?

Custom is exactly why it works. A buyer looking for a bespoke machine has more research to do, not less, and every question they research is a page you could own: the process, the throughput, the material, the integration. What does not work is a website that only says "we build custom machinery", because that is what every competitor also says.

We sell through distributors. Does this conflict with them?

It usually strengthens them. Demand generated at the manufacturer level arrives at the distributor pre-educated, which is what a channel partner actually wants. What does need agreeing up front is who owns the enquiry and how it is routed, and that goes into the proposal rather than being discovered later.

Do you have a published case in machinery?

Not yet in machinery specifically, and we say so rather than stretching a case from another sector to fit. What we do have published is industrial manufacturing work, including a hose manufacturer and two contract manufacturers, with figures you can check. If a named machinery reference is what you need before deciding, say so and we will tell you honestly whether we have one.

Every engagement starts with the Diagnostic — it decides what gets fixed first.
